Privacy policy
Privacy, plainly stated.
Kramena is local by design. Your reading progress and personal EPUBs stay on your device.
Who is responsible
Kramena is developed and operated by Raahel Baig. This policy explains how the Kramena mobile app and its catalog service handle information.
What stays on your device
Kramena stores your reading plans, progress, history, appearance preferences, daily episode time, downloaded catalog books, and imported EPUB content on your device.
Personal EPUBs are selected through the system file picker and prepared on your device. Kramena does not upload your EPUBs or their contents. Creating a Kramena Account is optional and does not automatically upload local reading data.
Optional accounts and Membership
You may voluntarily create a Kramena Account by providing an email address. Amazon Cognito stores the account identity and Amazon Simple Email Service delivers one-time sign-in codes. Kramena does not ask you to create a password.
An account is required only if you choose Membership. When you use Membership, RevenueCat and the applicable app store process subscription identifiers, purchase status, renewal status, and transaction information needed to provide and restore access. Kramena does not receive your full payment-card details.
Catalog requests
When you browse or download a catalog book, Kramena makes an encrypted HTTPS request to its catalog service hosted on Amazon Web Services. The service receives the requested path or book identifier and technical request information such as an IP address, timestamp, and network or device metadata needed to deliver and protect the service.
The catalog service does not receive your personal EPUBs or reading progress and does not create a reader profile from these requests. Operational request logs may be used to diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and maintain service security.
Notifications and file access
If you enable notifications, Kramena schedules one daily reading reminder locally at the time you choose. Notification permission is optional, and the current version does not intentionally request a remote push-notification token.
EPUB import uses the Android or iOS system document picker. Kramena can read only the file you select and does not request broad access to your storage.
How information is used
Information is used only to provide the reading experience, remember your choices, authenticate an optional account, provide and restore Membership, deliver catalog content, schedule an optional reminder, diagnose service failures, and protect Kramena’s services.
Kramena does not sell personal information, show advertising, build advertising profiles, or use your reading activity for marketing. The current version does not include product analytics or crash-reporting services.
Service providers
Amazon Web Services hosts the public catalog API, book database, and optional account service and may process email addresses, sign-in messages, and technical request information on Kramena’s behalf. RevenueCat and the applicable app store process Membership and transaction status when those features are used. Android, iOS, and Google Play may also process information independently under their own privacy policies.
Retention and deletion
On-device information remains until you clear Kramena’s app data or uninstall the app. Because this information is local, Kramena cannot remotely view or delete it for you.
Optional account records remain until you request account deletion. Subscription transaction records may be retained by RevenueCat, the app store, or Kramena as required to provide purchases, prevent fraud, meet accounting obligations, and comply with law.
Operational service logs, when generated, are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for reliability, security, abuse prevention, or legal obligations. You may contact us about a privacy request, although technical logs may not contain enough information to identify a particular person.
Security
Kramena uses HTTPS for catalog requests and relies on the operating system’s app sandbox to protect local data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit the information sent off your device and use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the service.
Children
Kramena is a general-audience reading app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Kramena’s features or data practices change. The effective date will be revised, and material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
